Chloramphenicol 1% Eye Ointment (Bacterial Conjunctivitis)

Description

Usage

Apply a small amount (about 1cm) inside the lower eyelid of the affected eye(s), 3 to 4 times a day, or once at bedtime if also using the drops during the day, for 5 days in total. Wash your hands before and after use.

Side Effects

Temporary blurred vision straight after application is common, as the ointment takes a moment to spread across the eye. Mild stinging can also occur.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is chloramphenicol 1% w/w.

Warnings

Don't wear contact lenses during treatment. See a doctor if symptoms haven't improved within a few days, if you have significant eye pain, or if your vision is affected. Avoid in anyone with a personal or family history of certain rare blood disorders, without medical advice.
