Description

Brolene eye drops contain propamidine isetionate, an antiseptic agent with antibacterial activity. Each 10ml bottle delivers 10mg of propamidine isetionate (0.1% w/v) as a clear, sterile ophthalmic solution. Brolene is used for the short-term treatment of minor bacterial eye infections (conjunctivitis) in adults. It acts by disrupting the cell membrane of bacteria, reducing infection at the surface of the eye.

Usage

Instil 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) up to 4 times daily. Wash hands thoroughly before and after use. Tilt head back, pull down the lower eyelid and apply drops without touching the tip of the dropper to the eye, eyelid or any other surface. If using more than one eye drop product, leave at least 5 minutes between each. Remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting. Do not use for more than 7 days. If symptoms have not improved after 48 hours, stop use and consult a pharmacist or GP.

Side Effects

Common: Temporary stinging, burning or irritation immediately after instillation. Brief blurred vision - avoid driving or operating machinery until vision clears. Uncommon / Rare: Allergic reaction: increased redness, swelling or itching of the eye or eyelid. Contact dermatitis of the eyelids with prolonged use.
