Description

Usage

Take the single tablet as soon as possible after unprotected sex, and always within 120 hours (5 days). Take it with or without food. If you vomit within 3 hours of taking it, take another tablet or contact a pharmacist or clinician promptly.

Side Effects

Headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and changes to your next period (earlier, later, or heavier/lighter than usual) are common. Dizziness and mood changes have also been reported. Your next period may be up to a week later or earlier than expected.

Warnings

This should be used as soon as possible after unprotected sex, as effectiveness reduces with time. It may not work as well if you have a high body weight. Don't use hormonal contraception (such as the pill) for 5 days after taking ellaOne, as it can reduce its effectiveness, use condoms during this time instead. Not recommended if you have severe asthma controlled by steroid tablets.
