Description
Gaviscon Advance forms a protective, floating barrier ('raft') over the stomach contents, physically stopping acid from travelling back up into the food pipe, a different approach from acid-reducing tablets.
Usage
Take one to two tablets after meals and at bedtime, or as needed when symptoms occur.
Side Effects
Side effects are rare. Occasionally, bloating or a feeling of fullness has been reported.
Ingredients
The active ingredients are 500mg sodium alginate and 100mg potassium bicarbonate.
Warnings
Contains a small amount of sodium, so use with caution if you've been advised to follow a low-sodium diet. If you take other medicines by mouth, leave a gap of 1 to 2 hours either side, as this product can affect how well they're absorbed.
